A big focus at the VM Group is ownership of safety. Every employee from the General Manager to the newest recruit, plays an important role in their own safety and the safety of their team members.

The VM Safety Program;

VM Drilling achieved ISO 45001:2018 certification for its Occupational health and safety management system in October 2020.

Our Occupational health and safety system is an integral part of the VM Drilling culture, with all levels of management committed to upholding an uncompromising standard.

All personnel at VM Drilling are trained according to their employed role. VM Drilling’s extensive in-house competency based on the job training programme is aimed at empowering all employees with the relevant skills and knowledge to conduct their task safely and effectively. Additionally, VM Drilling has taken the step to enrol all operational employees in Nationally Recognized Drill Training Certification, in conjunction with a third-party RTO.

Every drill rig in the VM fleet carries an iPad that has synchronised access to the latest company documentation including but not limited to; policies, legislation, management plans, safe work procedures and verification of competency assessments, forms and inspections, hazard register, SDS’s and emergency plans.

VM Drilling’s risk management strategies include an in-house designed Take 5 style booklet called Stay on Track (SOT), formal risk assessments and JHA’s, all utilizing the hierarchy of control guidelines for minimizing risk.

VM Drilling will work in unison with the client’s health and safety management system to ensure an accident free workplace for all involved in the operation

VM Drilling Safety Management plan is written to the AS4801 standard.
